About This Item
London; A. Brown & Sons, Limited. 1912., 1912. Hard Cover. FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. xviii, 328, [2], [18] catalogue. Numerous monochrome illustrations throughout. Publishers' bottle green cloth with gilt titles to spine and upper board, and gilt ship motif to upper board; top edge gilt. Slight wear at spine tips and corners, which are bumped; a slightly shaken copy with weak inner front hinge. Inscribed ownership label to front pastedown; illustrated newspaper clipping relating to a cottage at Skipsea on the cliff edge to ffep. A little scattered foxing, mainly to prelims, otherwise contents clean and crisp. A Very Good copy. Scarce title on the encroachment of the North Sea into the coastal areas of Yorkshire, which has moved considerably since the work was published. A fascinating study on the power of the ocean and it's devastating impact on the buildings close to it's edge.
