About This Item
Paris: E. Plon, Nourrit and Co.. Good with No dust jacket as issued. 1896. Hardcover. I believe this to be the first edition of this translation, although exactly how to determine this I do not know. A statement on the copyright page avers that this volume has been registered with the Minister of the Interior. library section, in April 1896. The book certainly looks old enough. The text was printed on medium-grade stock, which has markedly age-toned around the page edges, but which is quite sound. The binding is quite delightful--a lively marbled paper, with green buckram and a leather label. The book was withdrawn from a college library, and a library call number defaces the spine. Otherwise, the binding is sound, with only slight edgewear. There is a pretty library bookplate on the front endpaper. There is a card pocket and blank call slip at the back. The name of the library is stamped on the bottom edge of the textblock. Fast shipping, careful packing.; Ex-library .
