Slight separation beginning at hinges, spine still strong. A touch of wear to corners, faint sunning to top edge, a near fine example. In publisher's dust jacket, $4.95 retail price on front flap, tape remnants to verso, with usual sunning to spine. A touch of rubbing to corners, overall a bright example. Bookplate of George Sanders on front pastedown endpaper. Inscribed by the author on front free endpaper: "For George R. Sanders from an old-time friend and confrere. Warmly Irving Stone Feb 7, 1964.

Synopsis

Irving Stone was born in San Francisco on July 14, 1903. He wrote several books in a genre that he coined the “biographical novel,” which recounted the lives of well-known historical figures. In these novels, Stone interspersed biography with fictional narrative on the psychology and private lives of his subjects. He also wrote biographies of Clarence Darrow and Earl Warren, and short biographies of men who lost presidential elections. He died on August 26, 1989.
