Black cloth (faded) with gilt lettering and publisher medallion on spine; gilt medallion on front.FON on FFEP of each volume.Covers are faded, stained, and bumped, with wear on the top & heels of spines (volumes 1 & 4 top spines are frayed). Pages are age tanned with occasional stains. Volume 1 & 2 are cracked at half-title page, volume 1 is also cracked at back endpaper.

The Boulder Publishing Company, 1910. Good. Interior age-toned but free of marks except for a newspaper article pinned to the title page which has discolored the title page underneath. The newspaper article contains an excerpt from Ingersoll's "Creed of Science." Paper wraps show significant shelf and handling wear with penciled marks, stains, creases, overall soiling, tears, missing pieces, and edge and corner wear. An interesting bit of Western history. 1858 first (and only) edition. Hardcover in original brown and gilt blindstamped boards. Overall condition is Good. Boards show moderate general wear, binding is sound. Interior has partially removed Sabbath School bookplate and old seller's pencil note. Missing one front blank. All else complete. Paginates: blank, 67, 2 blanks, with 16 plates included in pagination. The plates are on stiff white paper. Most pages show modest to moderate foxing. 6x4 inches. An uncommon item. This book is in very good condition. There is minimal to no wear on the front, back and spine of the cover boards. There is no wear on the edges and some slight bumping on the top of the spine corners.The previous owners name is written on the inside of the front cover board and his stamp is affixed ro the front end page.
