A collection of four short stories about lions that are perfect for reading to teenagers.

The first story "Za l'vami po Afrike" (Chasing Lions Across Africa) is a short piece from Roualeyn Gordon-Cumming's book "Five Years of a Hunter's Life in the Far Interior of South Africa" published firstly in 1850.Roualeyn Gordon-Cumming (1820-1866) was a Scottish traveller known as the "lion hunter". From 1843 to 1848 he had been hunting in Bechuanaland and the valley of the Limpopo River regions. The story of his remarkable exploits is vividly told in his book.

The second story "Simba" by Kukert is also told from the perspective of a lion hunter.

The third piece "Moya l'vitsa" (My Lioness) is a re-worked extract from the book "Brehms Tierleben" (Brehm's Animal Life) first published in the 1860s by a German zoologist, writer, director of zoological gardens Alfred Edmund Brehm (1829–1884).

The last of the stories titled "Lʹvyata" (Lion Cubs) by Karl Meier tells about two baby lions life and growing up in human family. His srories were published in the Soviet journal "Vsemirnyi sledopyt" (World Pathfinder; 1925–1931), which featured various adventure fiction and travel literature.

Book contains nine full-page illustrations by famous Russian avant-garde artst Lev Bruni (1894 - 1948), who is also known for his constructivist genre counter-reliefs and abstract compositions.

Book's photomontage cover design created by Soviet graphic artist Pyotr Suvorov (1901 - 1968). He was engaged in easel graphics, etching and lithography. Taught at the Moscow Surikov Institute, authored many essays and studies on book art.
