About This Item
Unknown, ca. 1700. Hardcover. Good. . 48mo, 4.5cm thick. Full leather cover with 4 raised bands on the spine, blind-stamped panels on the boards, gilt ruling on the boards and backstrip, gilt ruling on the spine, the label Plautus on the spine nearly rubbed off. Cover shows minor wear and tear, cracks in the joints and backstrip, rubbing and discoloration. Edges are red-dyed and rubbed. Pages are tanned with some underlining and annotation. 20 plays in tiny font, some of the edges trimmed very close to the words. Undated, but an inscription in the prelims indicates it was published before 1787 (inscription and text is in Latin), and the binding and endpapers appear to be later. A tiny collectible book in good condition for its age. Lacking title page, publisher and date uncertain.
