About This Item

NY: Clark & Maynard. Fair with no Dust Jacket. 1876. 4th Edition. Hardcover. In this fourth edition, the text has been corrected in numerous places from Orelli and Ellendt, and the number of notes has been increased, noted by Yale College, June, 1844. Bookplate of Richard Denny Parker (an early railroad builder and former chief of two divisions of the Texas Railroad Commission) . Laid in is a hand-written on onionskin paper letter from Mrs. R. D. Parker wanting to have this book re-bound someday (dated 1958, so probably a descendent-in-law from the original R. D. Parker). The R. D. Parker Family Papers, 1924-1959, are housed at the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History, The University of Texas at Austin. Apparently, this book did not make it to the archives. Latin text. Both the bookplate and the letter are in far better condition than the book. Most of the spine is missing, dampstaining to bottom edge, affecting only the last few pages and rear pastedown. Heavy edgewear and fraying to extremities. Pencil scribbles on rear endpapers. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 252 pages; 28757 .
