About This Item

Mackinac Island: Mackinac Island State Park Commission. Near Fine with no dust jacket. 1976. Second Printing. Hardcover. 0911872132 . Contains historic photos and maps with text and commentary on the photos by the Supt. of the Commission. This is a fascinating photo history of this famous island in the straits of Mackinac from its earliest days as a strategic outpost to its modern transformation into an historic tourist destination--one of the few places in America where cars are not allowed. This copy has EXTRA items that were loosely laid in the book from 1979: 2 post card/tickets to Fort Mackinac, Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry ticket, 2 Grand Hotel services and Information booklets, and a room receipt for the Grand Hotel ($130 per night--in 2021 the rooms are $430 per night). Book is tight, clean and unmarked; the dust jacket is in similary nice condition with no chips, tears or markings. This book does not actually have an ISBN as those numbers were started after this book was first published in 1973--ISBN included to facilitate locating this copy.; B&W Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 103 pages .
