Edinburgh: Myles MacPhail. Good with no dust jacket. 1848. Hardcover. Ii, 447 pp. Index. 3/4 leather of the time with marbled brown hard boards. Some scuffing and rubbing to covers, corners rubbed, joints cracking but still holding, red label and black label to spine, top compartment chipped away. Interior paper is a bit toned, old pencil owner inscript, first few and last few leaves have a bit of humidity staining at the margins but no rippling or mold, otherwise clean and unmarked. Scarce. Includes War by De Quincy, Robert Montgomery's poetry, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Letters to a Young Minister, History of Early Scottish Literature, Professor Wilson's Prose Writings; Free Church Magazine; Christian Education in India; German Orthodoxy; An Argument for City Missions; Church Reform, etc. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 447 pages .
