HATFIELD BOOKS AND MEMORABILIA, a FIVE STAR SELLER, presents MADAME CURIE. "290TH thousand" appears on the dust jacket flap--that many copies of MADAME CURIE printed within 2 years in the late thirties! EVE CURIE wrote a monumental volume (6 1/8" x 9 1/4", 412 pages, with original dust jacket) about her mother, a monumental figure in science. Overall condition of book is VERY GOOD PLUS. Pages = Very Good Plus: binding process staining to both reverse covers and front and back fep's, liquid staining to outer edge of pages through the title page, moderate tanning, else very clear, tight, sharp, no marks. Cover (brown loose weave cloth boards with large dark brown script "MC" front, gold gilt particulars on spine) = Very Good Plus: rubbing with some color loss to top edge of front and back, staining to top edge of spine, else clear, sharp, tight, square. Dust jacket (b/w photo of Madame Curie on front, praise on back from Eleanor Roosevelt, Clifton Fadiman, Carl Van Doren and others, particulars in white) = Fair: a number of taped repairs, in particular to the spine, are keeping it together, but all parts are present and clearly readable.
