Sydney: Angus & Robertson. Fair with no dust jacket. 1938. First Thus. Hardcover. Unsightly 2" piece of cloth missing from tail of spine. Otherwise very good. Small ink notation on front endpaper. Some abrasions to front endpaper where earlier pencil price has been erased. Moderate foxing to page edges.; This copy inscribed by the author on the title page: "To George from Alice / A real happy Xmas to you, And lots of others to come. Ion L Idriess / 1938". vii, [3], 253, [1 (blank)] pages + [4] pages advertisements + frontispiece + maps on endpapers. Orange cloth boards with black lettering on spine and front board. Black rule on spine and black border on front board. Page dimensions: 180 x 120mm. Vignette illustrations at the head of each chapter. The true story of the author's Robinson Crusoe-like adventures on a deserted isle. An earlier version that was disguised as fiction was published by Cornstalk Publications in 1927. That version was the author's first book. The story was then republished in this present form in 1938, without any pretence of fictionality.
