Bleibler 174 - "Arthur hughes happens to jostle a sinister Asiatic, who thereupon gives him a bottle of ink. The ink has the property of writing down thoughts instead of words. Arthur, who serves as a bank messenger, has also managed to lose £7000 he was carrying for his employes. The ink, mean maliciously, serves to save him". VG+book, there is some abrasion at the top corner edges of the book, but otherwise in NF or better condition, Internally clean with no foxing. A collectible copy of a rare book. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .

Condition report on the front free endpaper, foxing on the endpapers and rear page, former owner's name on the title page, but o/w clean. First edition. A partial list of Black's other books is found at the front of the book. Black's work was favourably compared to the writing of Anthony Trollope, but that fame didn't carry over to the next century..
