BRAND NEW & Bright. 1988 First Edition, First Printing. Sticker shadow to fEP upper corner. Maps of Yosemite to front & rear endpapers. Gilt embossed gray linen boards/Fine. The CA Gold Rush (1848-1855) generated concern to preserve Yosemite Valley. Abraham Lincoln signed the Yosemite Grant of 1864 ---identifying it a federally preserved area w/Congress's endorsement, marking the1st instance land was designated specifically for preservation & public use, paving the path for Yellowstone Park in 1872. Of relevance: the 1970s occasioned a number of family deaths to Los Angeles tax lawyer, author-photographer Goldstein's family.
