Apparently published as the response of the unions to management's demands for a 15% reduction in wages in 1938 and specially printed for prominent Americans in the hope that they would support the union's request for an increase in wages. 482 pages.Bound in brown leather with gilt lettering. A fascinating chapter in union- management history, and a great railroad collectible. Boards lightly rubbed at tips, and 1 page small corner crease.. First Edition. Buckram. Wallace, Vice-President of the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and Agriculture, on front endpage: "To the Honorable Henry A. Wallace / With appreciation of services / rendered by him for the nation." Fair book. Ex-United States Senate Library with numerous stamps and stickers on endpapers and title page, including a label noting that Wallace acknowledged this book by letter to A. F. Whitney.
