Bound in the original publishers original Dark red pebble grained leather with black title panels on spines, with raised bands with the initial WSC and a very elaborate border to the front board, the book spine has 3 blocked leather labels for the Author, Volume title, and Centenary First Edition, with WSC also blocked on the spine. All page edges are gilt with the inside edges of the boards tooled gilt. Size 15 cm x 23.25 cm In very good condition. Gilt bright. Covers clean. A couple of minor bumps to edges, lightly rubbed lower edges, Vol II of Marlborough has tiny hardly noticeable tear head of spine rear hinge, Vol I of Lord Randolph has light crease head of spine, else covers all very good. Not all endpaper tissue guards present, and a few a little rubbed on fore edge. WW2 Vol I small nick on gilt for edge. Inside all generally clean and tight a few very minor marks, no inscriptions. 25 volumes. Complete. With b&w photographs, illustrations and maps. Tipped-in photo frontis plates.
