From Benjamin Franklin to William Faulkner, and all the great American writers in between, this book samples their work in 1,052 pages, including indices for both titles and first lines. 7 1/8" x 9 1/2", with no dust jacket (presumably as issued), may require additional postage. This "shorter edition" , edited by Jean Sisk, came out 4 years after the original "longer edition" of 1962, and as such it's a FIRST EDITION THUS, FIRST PRINTING THUS. Overall condition is Good Plus. Pages = Good: tanning o edges, occasional extensive marginal notes in pen by Old Dominion University professor, owner's name and addy on front reverse cover, else white, clear, tight, sharp. Cover (navy blue cloth boards with silver gilt design and green particulars) = Very Good Minus: 3 small holes down to board front, 3 small creases spine, rubbing and mild warping to back, yet titles clear, tight, square, no tears, chips or unraveling .
