This book is in Very Good+ condition and is lacking a dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. The spine ends, corners and spine joints of the book cover have some light bumping, rubbing and wear. The text pages are clean and bright. There is a one inch crack to the top rear inner hinge that has been professionally repaired. There is a previous owner's inked name and date on the front endpaper. "Makaloa (Cyperus laevigatus) is a native sedge that was traditional used in Hawaii I to make moena makaloa, finely plaited mats treasured in Hawaii I. These treasured mats were a specialty of one particular island, Nii Ihau. As families intermarried, this practice established new centers elsewhere. Before this practice went dormant back in the late 1800s, it presence was found on Nii Ihau, Kauai I, and on the northern tip of Oahu in Mokulei Ia." (Pihemanu Kuaihelani makaloa project) .
