About This Item
New York: The Macmillan Company, 1967. Second Printing. Near Fine in Very Good Dustjacket. Quarto. 9.25 in. x 7.25 in. Wheat-colored cloth-covered boards with red, white and turquoise drawing of three children to front board, and several country-living objects (a pot, cup, knife, ladle, a laden babushka no doubt with food tied inside) to the rear board. Very slight rubbing to extremities and a small shelf dent near bottom of spine. Bookplate to front pastedown, with stamped name and deaccession stamp. Dustjacket repeats graphics of book. Light soiling to dustjacket, with one small closed tear (evidence of a bump) and a bit of fraying to top and bottom of spine. Author's delightful illustrations throughout, both duotone and full color. Protected in mylar. "Here are stories of three happy children -- Nanka, Marianka and Honzicheck. We watch them make secrets, play jokes, laugh and dance and sing. They are Maminka's children and she holds them close to her heart with bonds of affection as strong as her love for old Bohemia..."
