Hardback, 1954 (first published 1876), first edition thus, published by John Sherratt and Son, Altrincham, vi + 314 pages.
Octavo/8vo, measures around 8" by 5 1/2" by 1 1/2". Pictorial dust jacket, which is price-clipped and displays some marking, scuffing, tearing and tattering. Sky blue cloth binding, gilt lettering to spine. Some marking and scuffing to binding but reasonably clean and colouring still vivid. Signs of wear, rubbing at edges and on hinges. Book has slight forward tilt. Some slackness to binding but book contents quite firm. Page edges foxed and a little browned and scuffed. Minor marking to endpapers, gift inscription to front free endpaper but otherwise page surfaces very clean, with the exception of the odd substantially foxed page. No underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.
