About This Item
The First UK printing published by Collins, London in 1957. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition. The binding is very slightly cocked and there is a hint of bowing to the rear board. Gilt titling to the spine. Light spotting and toning to the end-papers. Free from inscriptions. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good condition. Some slight rubbing, creasing and slithers of loss at the spine ends. Light rubbing to the folds and spine in places. Mild edge-wear with a few nicks and a little creasing in places with small closed tears to the rear spine fold. The wrapper presents very well in the removable Brodart archival cover. The author's celebrated novel detailing the personal lives of philosopher's and friends among the Sartre / De Beauvoir intimate circle, for which the author was awarded the 'Prix Goncourt'. An increasingly scarce title to be found in collectible condition. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
