About This Item

Garden City: Doubleday, 1963. First Edition; trade issue; bound in full red leather (custom, presentation?) in a matching cloth slipcase; inscribed on his dated Gettysburg label by Eisenhower (”with the affectionate regard of his friend...” to Lt. General Milton G. Baker, founder of Valley Forge Military Academy. [With] Waging Peace: 1956-1961. Garden City: Doubleday, 1965. First Edition; trade issue; fine; bound and inscribed as in the previous volume. Both bindings have the recipient’s name gilt-stamped on their front covers. It was by no means unusual for the former President to present books on these labels. In fact, this is the manner in which he inscribed these titlesto his grandson David. Presumably copies of the trade issue were provided to the author for his own purposes.
