Exemplar com assinatura de posse na folha de anterrosto e leve oxidação natural nas margens das folhas.
2ª Edição de uma obra pouco comum, não registada por Inocêncio. A 1ª edição foi publicada em 1866 e menciona no rosto que era traduzida do «Hespanhol».
Obra que contém as noções básicas de botânica, de jardinagem, e de aclimatação de plantas em jardins brasileiros e da América do Sul. Inclui um extenso capítulo sobre todos os métodos de enxertia, um catálogo de plantas das regiões temperadas e montanhosas, um capítulo sobre todas leguminosas comestíveis (algumas já desaparecidas da nossa gastronomia), um capítulo sobre o jardim inglês e as suas flores e um capítulo sobre as árvores resinosas.
José de Castro Freire de Macedo (S. Silvestre, Coimbra, 1814 - Lisboa, 1865) foi membro do Partido Progressista e colaborador de «A Revolução de Setembro».

Founded in 1957, by Ezequiel Castro e Silva, LIVRARIA CASTRO E SILVA is a bibliographic commercial organization, well known in the antique book market and amongst the antiquarian booksellers, both in Portugal and abroad, for being one of the most distinguished Portuguese specialists in its area, dealing in books through several continents. We seek to maintain a family tradition that goes back to the second decade of the last century. Our main activity is the edition and periodic publication of bibliographic catalogues.
Aiming to provide faster access to our catalogues, better stock information and improving communication with our clients, in 2003 we launched our website www.castroesilva.com, allowing all interested parts an easier access to registration and order of our catalogues. This webpage has a bibliographical database which seeks to replace the old file system, in itself an historical and probably unique tool, while allowing us the means to spread information about our books and contributing to the general bibliographical research.
