New York: William Wood & Co., 1884. This antique volume features color plates and information about the use of plants in medicine. Dr. Laurence Johnson's work is part of Wood's Library of Standard Medical Authors, and features the author's own drawings and photographs, as well as many other figures. The volume is bound in buff-colored boards, with black cover lettering and decoration, and gilt spine lettering with black decorations. Overall a clean copy in Good condition. Minor wear to cover edges. Owner's bookplate on front inner board. Mild spotting to foredge. Inner pages clean. Nine full-color chromolithographs of plants illustrate this volume, in addition to numerous black-and-white figures interspersed throughout the text. Dr. Johnson provides a detailed botanical overview of North American plants and their medicinal properties, as well as a general introduction to botanical science for a medical audience. 292 pages, including index; approx. 6"x9"..
