About This Item
Milan: Società editrice libraria,, 1906. First edition of Pareto's masterpiece, one of the most important contributions to economics in the 20th century, published as volume 13 of the series Piccola Biblioteca Scientifica. It is in the Manuale di economia politica that Pareto's changed position in regard to economic theory and politics is most completely stated. The Manuale "is better conceived and, more important, much better thought through than the Cours d'économie politique (1896-7). It is basically a work of synthesis in which Pareto presented a general theory of economic equilibrium which is considerably more refined than Walras's" (International Encyclopedia of the Social Sciences). Small octavo. Original red cloth, spine and front board lettered in gilt, patterned endpapers, red edges. Boards lightly rubbed and a little discoloured in places, gilt lettering to front board retouched; a very good clean copy. Mattioli 2724; Sraffa 4514.
