About This Item
Narragansett Pier, Rhode Island, New England Water Works Association, 1913-1921. Hardcover. Manuscript letter book, 1000, [7] sheets; 31 cm. Copies of letters sent by Willard C. Kent (1851-1924), architect and civil engineer of Woonsocket and Narragansett Pier, Rhode Island, who conducted business as Secretary of the Association from his Rhode Island home. These copies of his letters are in a "Tokio" Letter Copying Book. Discoveries by Koch and Pasteur on health hazards caused by bacteria led to actions to provide a supply of clean healthy water in municipalities throughout America. In the years covered by these letters, there was a strong active organization of New England water engineers and large-scale projects in Boston, Providence, and other cities to secure safe water. Very Good. Stock#OB988 oversize.
