About This Item

Forest Hills, Long Island: Willard Wiener, 1938. Softcover. Good. Quarto. Carbon leaves typed rectos only in brad-bound unprinted wrappers. Author's phone number handwritten on the title page, wrappers quite worn, first leaf partly pulled away, overall good or better, internally very good. An unpublished play about Charles Lee and the American Revolution that was later adapted into a 1942 novel published by Farrar and Rinehart. The denouement in the third act revolves around the Battle of Monmouth in Freehold, New Jersey. This play was apparently unpublished and possibly unproduced. The only mention we can find of the play is in a single record of a program for the WPA Federal Theatre Program (held in Germany!). *OCLC* records no copies of this script, and the play version is apparently unrecorded.
