About This Item

Harcourt, Brace and Company. Near Fine in Very Good- dust jacket. 1943. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. 0972285709 . A very pleasing copy of this delightful classic. The book itself is quite pristine, slightly toned to an ivory beige. The jacket is price-clipped. The front is excellent, there is light chipping to top and tail of the spine, and a few specks where color has worn away. At the back, there is an area at the top that is creased, with a closed tear and color worn away in one spot. There is another such spot at the bottom. The jacket is made from soft paper, so this is not surprising. Scans on request. Fast shipping, careful packing, with tracking number provided. ; 50 pages .

Synopsis

Many Moons is a children's picture book written by James Thurber and illustrated by Louis Slobodkin. It was published by Harcourt, Brace & Company in 1943 and won the Caldecott Medal in 1944. Princess Lenore becomes ill, and only one thing will make her better: the moon. Unlike much of Thurber's other work, including The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and his fables, this story shows a crisis between males and females that ends happily for all.
