Large map showing in detail the geographic ranges of the Amerindian tribes of the Americas at the close of the pre-Columbian era, with copious notations as to their territories, cities, populations, racial types, languages, cultures, etc. Compiled and edited in 1940 by distinguished American archaeologist Max Wells Jakeman (1910-1998) for the Itzan Society, founded in Los Angeles in 1938 to investigate the origins of the ancient native civilizations of the Americas. Measures 24"x 36" fully opened, 7" x 10" folded. An original 1940 map, not a reprint. Fine condition.
