Original silver print photograph signed by Rosenthal. Print size showing inside mat: 7" x 9". Frame size 10 5/8" x 12 9/16". Professionally matted and framed and under glass. Here is the lead paragraph about the photo from the Pulitzer Prize website. "Perhaps no Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph is better known than Joe Rosenthal's picture of six U.S. Marines raising the American flag on Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima. It was taken on Friday, Feb. 23, 1945, five days after the Marines landed on the island. The Associated Press, Rosenthal's employer, transmitted the picture to member newspapers 17½ hours later, and it made the front pages of many Sunday papers." For the fuller story, consult the Pulitzer Prize website. This is a fine print of one of the inner circle of iconic photographs in American History. I have tried to provide as accurately as possible the color tone of the photo and mat in the digital photo you see. The mat is a subtle green gray, and the photo gray. We have dated this photo according to the year it was taken, but we do not know when Rosenthal made this specific print. Please be advised that we respond best to email and telephone inquiries. Texts okay if necessary. No chats, please. Thank you.

[Np: The Photographer, ca. 1963].. Original glossy double-weight gelatin silver print from negative, 14 x 11" (inclusive of margins). Captioned in pencil on verso. About fine. An original print of one of the sequence of superb photographs taken by Yousuf Karsh on location in South Africa during the filming of the 1964 Diamond Films production, ZULU, directed by Cy Endfield. Karsh's invitation to join the production and photograph the cast and locale resulted in a sequence of photographs of a very high order. The present image, an imposing portrait of future political leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi in character as Zulu King Cetshwayo kaMpande, shows the subject seated in a substantial throne-like setting, in company with a woman (identified as "Christabel" in the pencil caption) and a young boy (identified as "Daniel Tchabalala" in the pencil caption. The image is identified as "No. 5-15" in the series. Although this project is not as widely known as Karsh's formal portraiture, examples of the resulting… Read More

[Np: The Photographer, ca. 1963].. Original glossy double-weight gelatin silver print from negative, 14 x 11" (inclusive of margins). Numbered in pencil on verso. The present image is a beautiful 3/4-length photograph of two Zulu tribeswomen in ceremonial dress, including feathered headgear, small shields and short spears, with partial figures of other women in similar dress in the background. The image is identified in pencil on the verso as "No. 109" in the series. Although this project is not as widely known as Karsh's formal portraiture, examples of the resulting images have featured prominently in both museum and print retrospectives of his career.

Description:
This listing is for a large and breathtaking Apollo 9 Full-Crew signed (Scott, McDivitt, Schweickart) 16x20 photo professionally authenticated by JSA. It would be hard to exaggerate how scarce this is. Apollo 9 was the first mission to qualify a Lunar Module (LM) for flight and docking, thus paving the way for an eventual Apollo 11 moon landing mission. This photo was taken from a docked LM and shows Dave Scott performing a stand-up EVA from the hatch of the Command Module. The three signatures are strikingly large and bold and beautifully written; and, critically, have been authenticated by one of the best in the business, James Spence Authenticators (JSA). Their full Letter of Authenticity accompanies the photo; the accompanying COA sticker was placed on the letter, not the photo. The photo is printed on Kodak professional paper and the borders are bright white (but hard to photograph). Condition is very good; some wear is visible in places along the edges, and the corners have mild blemishes but… Read More
