About This Item

New York: W. W. Norton & Company, 1994. First edition. Hardcover. 159pp. Octavo [23 cm] Brown cloth covered boards with a silver stamped title on the spine. Good only. There is a large moisture stain that covers the bottom half of the spine and surrounding areas on the covers. In a very good dust jacket, with a barely perceptible damp stain on the spine of the jacket. Lightly rubbed. With essays by Ben Lifson and Richard Eldridge, and Eugenia Parry Janis. From the Introduction- "In her own time Content's work not only won the respect of Stieglitz and O'Keeffe but was published in the French journal Photographie. It was therefore recognized in Europe as being in the same arena- figured in terms of quality, integrity, and artistic understanding- and deserving of the same chance to survive as the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Florence Henri, Andre Kertesz, Dora Maar, Martin Munkacsi, Man Ray, Maurice Tabard, and other major and minor photographers of the period.
