This 1961 first edition, first printing book was the foundation of Alfred Hitchcock's 1964 film of the same name. The film was based in America rather than England and had a more optimistic ending. Condition: Good - corners slightly bumped, wear to the extremities of the dust wrapper with small tears and nibbles at the head and tail of the spine, dust wrapper is in protective cellophane to prevent any further damage. Very light foxing to the ffep and rfep otherwise contents clean bright and tight. A nice collectors example of this classic work.
Synopsis
Marnie is a 1961 English novel written by Winston Graham, about a young woman who makes a living by embezzling from her employers, moving on, and changing her identity. She is finally caught in the act by one of her employers, a young widower named Mark Rutland, who blackmails her into marriage. Her compulsive stealing and sexual frigidity sends the troubled woman to the brink of suicide and she eventually must face the trauma from her past which is the root cause of her behavior.
