At. the formation of Lincoln, another portion of Tryon became Rutherford County, and in 1782 a part of Burke County was added to Lincoln. the marriage bonds of Tryon and Lincoln cover the period from 1769-1869, and the more than 6,000 bonds herein abstracted are on file in the courthouse in Lincolnton, North Carolina .
