About This Item
Published by Chapman & Hall from stereo plates of first edition. Title page indicates publishing after move by Chapman & Hall to 193 Piccadily in 1852 from 186 Strand. Contains all parts of first- halftitle, frontpiece signed "Phiz", vignette title page, titlepage, Preface, Contents, list of plates, Errata 14 lines. Smith indicates 33 points, including 10 Dicken's errata, 6 of which were corrected. 40 illustrations by H. K. Brown (Phiz") including the frontpiece and vignette titlepage. 320 leaves pages (1)-624. Titlepage same as First except for change of address and no date listed.
Condition: recently restored using original cloth boards with new spine with original sun faded gold titling attached.. Corners bumped. New end papers. Plates were cleaned of foxing and toning. Introductory pages and several text pages were cleaned leaving minimal foxing in text.
