New York: Harper & Brothers, 1928. Presumed First edition. Hardcover. Very good. George Morrow. 8vo. Illustrated in black line throughout plus colour frontis by George Morrow. Orange cloth boards stamped in black on the spine and upper panel. Cloth lightly rubbed at the corners and sunned at the spine. Some wear to the cloth at the head and tail of spine. Top corner of pp 43/44 has a repaired tear. A clean, unmarked and tightly bound copy without dust jacket. The book is reputed to have provided the inspiration for Tolkien's Hobbits.
