Ex library with author's name on lower spine, ink stamps on text block edges, label on front pastedown, ink stamps on title page, p. 9, and rear endpaper. Tear in top of front hinge, spine head, and some soiling to cloth. Inscribed by author on title page with notation on front free endpaper.

Radclyffe Hall's novel depicts the life of carpenter Christophe Benedit, as well as of the other inhabitants of the small French town of St-Loup-sur-Mer.
