Octavo; pp; 351, (i); color frontispiece plus three additional color and four black and white plates by Arch Webb pictorial blue cloth with a paste-on illustration on the front board, ruled lettered in gilt, top edge stained blue, pictorial endpapers; Spine gilt faded else very good. Captain Frederick Marryat (1792-1848) was a British Royal Navy officer, novelist, and an acquaintance of Charles Dickens, noted today as an early pioneer of the sea story.
