Description:
This is the lettered limited version. Fine unread book and jacket in Fine slipcase. Bound in black pigskin quarter morocco, and marbled boards - a beautiful production. This is copy III of 104 such copies, signed by Nisbet on the limitation page. Nisbet's novel takes the reader on a roller coaster ride between drug deals in Oakland and a strange series of events in San Francisco. The principal character being a bald, strung-out guitar player, who is caught up in a series of ever more bizarre events. I've read it twice, and it is an unpredictable and unforgettable trip.

New York, NY: McKinlay, Stone & Mackenzie, 1923. Hardcover. Good. McKinlay, Stone & Mackenzie. Uncommon in full 21 volume series published by McKinlay, Stone & Mackenzie. Good. Scattered foxing to boards and light dampstain to rear board of one volume. One title page may be missing, else a good set for cold nights. The series originally consisted of eleven matched volumes. They were reprinted as needed, and at least ten additional titles were added later. Contains some scarce titles. First Series (1923):The Insidious Dr. Fu-Manchu, The Return of Dr. Fu-Manchu, The Hand of Fu-Manchu, The Yellow Claw, The Golden Scorpion, Bat Wing, Fire-Tongue, DopeQuest of the Sacred Slipper, The Green Eyes of Bast, Tales of Secret Egypt. Titles added later: Grey Face, Daughter of Fu Manchu, The Dream Detective, Brood of the Witch Queen, Tales of Chinatown, Yellow Shadows, Moon of Madness, She Who Sleeps, The Emperor of America, The Day the World Ended. This is likely a later printing, including the 10 additional volumes. Blue cloth, matching bindings. The series was sold principally by mail order, through advertisements in pulp magazines and other popular magazines of the day. Like his contemporaries Algernon Blackwood and Arthur Machen, Rohmer claimed membership to one of the factions of the qabbalistic Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Rohmer's main literary influences seem to have been Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle and M. P. Shiel. He went on to influence and entertain generations of writers and readers. The Fu Manchu series drew much criticism from the Chinese government and Chinese communities in the U.S. for what was seen as negative ethnic stereotyping. The stories' implicit racism and intrigue was a sign of the times, worth exploring. Ships from Dinkytown in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Due to the size/weight of this book extra charges to apply for international shipping. Not available for priority/expedited shipping.

Description:
Dennis Lehane's previous thrillers Mystic River (2001) and Shutter Island (2003) were best-sellers and much talked about books. The Given Day (2008) is an exploration of a rich cast of characters involved in stressed situations in Boston at the end of the First World War. It was a time of upheaval and calamity, and what Lehane does is take us inside his fictional world. The famous baseball player Babe Ruth features in this memorable story. Compared to E L Doctorow for its literary play with real historical figures it is Lehane's most mature novel. Lee Child does a brilliant job is setting out for us Dennis Lehane's journey as a writer in his appreciation for this edition. H e asks the worrying question has Dennis left crime writing behind? This signed limited is one of only 80 numbered copies, produced by arrangement with Transworld. It is bound in leather with marbled paper over boards and coloured top edge. It is a heavy volume with 704 pp. Still a landmark book for Lehane.

First Edition. (1993) Hardcover with d.j. Fine with near fine dust jacket. D.J. has slight curl on top edge and light rubbing on back. No worn edges. Tight binding with clean, sharp pages. No markings. 305 pages. Dolores Claiborne is a psychological thriller novel. The novel is narrated by the title character. Atypically for a King novel, it has no chapters, double-spacing between paragraphs, or other section breaks; thus the text is a single continuous narrative which reads like the transcription of a spoken monologue. This book is dedicated to King's mother: "For my mother, Ruth Pillsbury King."

Collins White Circle Pocket Edition #228. Great 1940s cover! Colonel Anthony Gethryn must prove a man innocent of a murder he's been convicted for in only 5 days. MacDonald was a great practitioner of the mystery-suspense genre; his books remain readable, even if his characters are nowhere near as enlightened as we tend to be today. Please read this volume in its historical context. A very clean copy, spine slightly darkened with very faint reading crease: see photos.
