Now protected by an archival cover. . 6th printing (just nine months after the first) Second book by this San Francisco writer and restaurateur - a novel based on the death of Manuel Laureano Rodrguez Snchez, the legendary Spanish bullfighter known as Manolete, a fictionalized version of his final appearance in the ring in 1947, when he came out of retirement and was fatally gored. The year after this book was published, Conrad opened his famed restaurant "El Matador" in San Francisco, with the proceeds from the novel. Illustrated with drawings by the author. SIGNED on the title page. Laid in is an invitation to the opening of the restaurant. 213 pp.
