New York: University Publishing Company, 1907. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Folio. 176, 16 pages, indexed. A large, thin book; the binding measures 12 1/4 inches tall by 10 inches wide. Hardcover bound in tan cloth with red lettering. The covers are heavily soiled from handling and shows rubbing, scuffing and bumping. The corners and edges of the spine are beginning to fray. Hinges are secure. Outer edges of the text block are toned. There is significant foxing to the end papers. The text is toned and shows some sporadic foxing/spotting throughout. Previous owner's inscription in pencil on the front flyleaf. Contains a color frontis of "Race Types". Extensively illustrated with photographs and with color maps. The United States maps show regional maps and not individual state maps, although the North Carolina Supplement has a double page color map of the state (with some text on the page). The North Carolina section also has a number of black and white text photos and illustrations from drawings or engravings. The text of the North Carolina section is by M. C. S. Noble, Superintendent of City Schools, Wilmington, N.C.
