Paris: The Obelisk Press, 1942. Early edition. Paperback. 324pp. Large octavo [24.5 cm] Green, white and black printed wraps. Very good. The covers are slightly rubbed, creased and scratched. There is a 1 and 1/2 inch closed tear in the paper of the spine. Browned pages. The pages are very occasionally lightly creased. The book is sturdy. According to his daughter, when Henry Miller discovered Europe, particularly Paris, he became acquainted with writers such as Anais Nin, Alfred Perles, and Lawrence Durrell. During the 1930's Miller wrote and published "Tropic of Cancer", "Black Spring", "Aller Retour New York", and "Tropic of Capricorn".
