About This Item
E-241. Very Good. Hardcover. Hardcover. 8vo. A. C. McClurg & Co, Chicago, IL. 1930. 341 pgs. First Edition/First Printing. DJ present but lacking the spine and with chips and missing pieces present to the extremities of the DJ. Bound in orange cloth with slight darkening and rubbing. Previous owner's name presnt to the FFEP. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. Space opera, first published as a four-part serial in Argosy, based on a bizarre, not to say ludicrous, racial fantasy. After a war long ago between Mars and the moon, white (i. E. , Caucasian-ish) Martians fled to Earth, while Chinese-type Martians settled on the moon. Fast forwarding to the present, a pair of American chums fire off a rocket (for the heck of it) at the moon; the Lunarians (ruled by the diabolical P'an-ku) shoot back, launching a full-scale invasion of the Earth. There is at least one "white" on the moon, the lovely female Maza. "Interplanetary war and the Yellow Peril . Astonishing that Argosy would print this." -- Bleiler, Science-Fiction: EB; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
