London, Printed for J. Hatchard, Piccadilly, by W. Mason, Chichester., 1819.. 1819 vii, 537, [1] p. Errata on final page. Presumed first edition as there is no edition statement (there appear to have been 3 editions in 1819). Contemporary diced calf binding, worn on the edges and corners but sound. Recent reback with the original label preserved. Henry Martyn 1781-1812 worked as a missionary in the Ottoman empire and in India, including translating the whole of the New Testament into Urdu, Persian and Judaeo-Persic. He also translated the Psalms into Persian and the Book of Common Prayer into Urdu.
