Contemporary half leather binding, six spine compartments ornately decorated in gilt, gilt lettering, marble paper covered boards with matching marbled page edges. Boards and spine a little rubbed. Contents clean and fresh , bookplate of Charles Awdry and Edward Bouverie of Market Lavington to the front free endpaper, a little foxing to the first few pages, stamp to title page states "from the publisher". Text very clean no foxing beyond the title page. Edward Pleydell-Bouverie PC, FRS (1818 - 1889) was a British Liberal politician. He was a member of Lord Palmerston's first administration. Major Charles Edwin Awdry TD, JP (1906-1965) was an English cricketer and British Army officer..
