London: Printed for Samuel Harding, Bookseller on the Pavement in St. Martin's Lane, 1735. Second Issue. Leather-bound. good. Three-quarter morocco over stone marbled paper boards. Octavo. Spine double-ruled in gilt with gilt titles and date. Corners bumped edges chafed, wear to outer hinges, generally worn with some darkening to boards. Textblock square, binding tight. [4] 349 pages . Lacks index. "Pp. 286-287 repeated in pagination but text and register are continuous". (ESTC T144303).
Although book does NOT call for illustrations, this copy has 37 individual-page engraved plates of personalities who appear within Reresby's memoirs, including 2 folding plates. Plates done by various engravers -- essentially a customized one-of-a-kind, illustrated edition. Note: One plate is nicely hand colored. Modern bookplate, toned throughout, moderate foxing with some darkening to margins of early pages. Reresby (1634 - 1689) was appointed Governor of York in 1682, and his memoirs are a resource for studies of British history in the last part of the 17th century.
