First edition. 12mo in full spotted calf, spine lined in gilt and with gilt lettered leather title label. iv+396 pp. Hugh Judge (c. 1750-1834) was a noted Philadelphia-native Quaker minister whose ministry began in 1772 in that city. He also farmed and operated small mills in the area. Throughout his life Judge traveled extensively on religious trips including to South Carolina, Baltimore, New York, New England including Maine, Upper Canada, and Ohio, where he settled in 1815.
