About This Item
London: The Grolier Society , 1890. 21 volume matched set of "Edition Connoisseur Astrale" - this edition has a stated limitation of 75 copies printed for Great Britain and America. This is a very limited edition printing. These books are in fine condition. The books are tightly bound and square. The corners are sharp (one exception is listed) , the book pages are bright, crisp, clean, notation and defect free. None of the books have bookplates. They were part of a collection which included many books from the turn of the 20th century which were still in the publisher's packing crates. This is a stunningly beautiful set of books. Tan leather spines with bright gold gilt lettering. This set of books appears as though they were simply put onto a shelf and never opened or disturbed. This collector had a massive collection of books and ephemera. The Life Of Napoleon Bonaparte by William Hazlitt, (Vols I-VI), Memoirs of Napoleon by Louis Antoine Fauvelet De Bourrienne Vol I-IV , Memoirs of Madame Junot (Duchesse D'Abrantes) Vol I-VI , (one volume with slightly bumped corner which might be binding error) , Memoirs of the Prince De Talleyrand edited by The Duc De Broglie Vol I-V. I can't find another set of this edition of these book for sale on the internet. This set was apparently also published by the Napoleon Society. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
