A very good attractive set of the two volumes, bound in full leather with gilt decoration to the spine, note: volume II has the rear boards detached. Neat inscription to ffep dated 1860 from William Thomas French to Clifford Kemeys Tynte (1843-1866) on his leaving Eton. The biography of Sarah Duchess of Marlborough, friend of Queen Anne. 475pp. and 573pp. Laid in an original document, rather worn, (see image) a receipt for interest on a loan to the King (George I) signed by S Marlborough, Godolphin & Lord Sundon executors of John, Lord Marlborough, dated 1739..
