(London, Hodder and Stoughton, 1940). 8vo; original green cloth; bookplate and signature of William Ayliff Godlonton on front pastedown (illustrated in Catalogue of the Godlonton Collection of Rhodesiana, University of Rhodesia, 1972); pp. 327, incl. index; monochrome plates. Cover slightly sunned; lower joint just starting at head and tail; a little soiling to front free endpaper. Good condition. "The donor of the Godlonton Collection of Rhodesiana, Mr. William Ayliff Godlonton, C.B.E., was born in England in 1887. He is a grandson of an 1820 Settler named Robert Godlonton (1794-1884). Educated at Dulwich College in south London, Mr. Godlonton came to Southern Rhodesia and was enrolled as an attorney, notary and conveyancer of its High Court in 1910. . . . He has rendered valuable public service by participating in or presiding over a number of official commssions of enquiry in Central Africa concerning African production and trade, education and also the civil service." - Catalogue of the Godlonton Collection of Rhodesiana. .
