Description:
New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1908. Reissue. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 0x0x0. Reissue. No jacket. U.S. Secretary of State Robert Lansing's copy, (these were purchased from a family library in Henderson Harbor, NY, near his birthplace in Watertown, which included many other works owned by him) with his name in pencil on front free endpaper. Spine and boards toned, front board rubbed, endpapers lightly foxed. 1908 Hard Cover. x, 370 pp. "The fictional biography of an 'ordinary' hero, William Gordon of Earlstoun is set in the 1670's and 80's, known as 'The Killing Times.' The story is told as a first person retrospective narration - a man in his 50's recounting his youth. Originally serialised, the adventures come thick and fast, barely giving the reader time to draw breath and consequently drawing them into the world of 17th century Galloway with all its colour and conflict.
