The Hotel Dunapalota was opened in 1913 as The Grand Hotel Ritz. It was one of the finest and most luxurious hotel in Budapest. Hotel had its own rooftop garden with a magnificent view of the Danube. The British owned part of the hotel shares. In 1935 the Prince of Wales himself, later Edward VIII put up at the Hotel. Rabindranath Tagore and Arnold Joseph Toynbee also stayed at The Dunapalota.
The building was destroyed during the Second World War.
